Guineas need company of their own kind to live happily.
A solo guinea can very easily get depressed and withdrawn. Bonding can take anything from a couple of hours to a couple of days.
We are happy to do bonding for you, either at your home, at a fosterers or at main rescue.
Bonding fees are negotiable, depending on circumstances and if overnight stays are required.
Contrary to popular belief rabbits and guineas shouldn’t be housed together, as they need completely different diets and the rabbit could cause injury to the guinea.
We recommend a minimum 120cm indoor cage/ hutch per pair. C&C cages work very well for indoor set ups and can be bought online from various suppliers.
The benefit with a C&C cage is that you can adapt and make it to your requirements. For a herd of piggies a shed style set up works very well.
We personally don’t recommend double storey hutches for guineas, as they are not great on ladders and this could cause injury.
Don’t forget that your guinea also needs suitable exercise space as well.
We recommend a nugget dried food over muesli, as muesli can cause them to be very fussy eaters. Guineas eat and need a more varied amount of fruit and veg than rabbits.
Guineas can eat lettuce, iceberg is not recommended – romaine is the best kind for them.
Guineas need more vitamin C in their diet, this can be provided with a suitable diet.
Piggies love anywhere they can hide, be it in hay or an igloo.
Most bonded guineas like to have their own igloos, bedroom area, food bowl, water bottle, etc. Amazon does a great variety of guinea pig products.
